It's day 11 of our Africa trip, it's been an intesnse roller-coaster ride of action and adventure since day one. Africa is like nothing that either of us have experienced before, it's so damn extreme.
There's not much time to write this update but here's a few highlights so far.
- Having the truck we were hitching on robbed twice in Mokopane, SA. Jon got his bag back but the lady in the front wasn't so lucky.
- Looking through the mosquito netting of our tent to come eye to eye with a bull elephant.
- Fishing waist deep in crocodile and hippo infested water, catching a fish every cast then running like girls when a hippo got too close.
- Being the only budget backpackers in Botswana.
- Even the little animals can kick your arse, Ian's been stabbed by a catfish and bitten by flys and stung by an ant. Jon hasn't washed for awhile maybe that's why he hasn't been attacked.
- Experiecing a night out in Nata, Botswana with the locals, learning that white men really can't dance "Is there witchcraft on your hips, move them boy". See you soon Melody.
- Eating meat and pumpkin cooked on a open fire deep in the Okovanga Delta while listening to the sounds of an African night. Phil and Marnie YOU ROCK!!!, thank for the most amazing five days ever.
We've shot over 1000 photos and 8 hours of video to date. We're off for a game drive in Chobe National Park tomorrow at 6am. Check back soon for the full length story. Wish us luck! Sorry Moms!

the USUAL "be careful" doesn't seem to make very much impact on you when I say it...but I'll say it AGAIN! Be careful. Love ya!

with respect to the
sorry moms
it appears
the only one that requires medical attention
is me....
you two freak me out
jonathan a job is waiting for you at national geographic
is that what all this has been about
big kiss and huge hug
and as i said to a friend of mine
i thought of you possibly being eaten alive by a lion
then what i realized that was me and the experience you are going to have the next time i see you

Jon, hurry up and finish your silly little world trip and get back to real life, i.e. sitting in front of a computer in an office cube for 10 hours a day.

when you were three years old you had a big wheel
all the mothers in the area said
you should not let him go all the way around the block
its just that the look on your face from returning from the whole block on mccallum avenue was always too much for me
the other mothers thought i should not do that...the what if stuff
funny ... but i somehow thought you would always find your way home ...
even at three years old
you have traded in your big wheel..... for big rapids in africa ....
in many ways i suppose i am responsible
